Hope for Ariang

Ariang Primary School

H.O.P.E for Ariang is raising money to build a primary school in Ariang, a village near the town of Gogrial, Bhar El Ghazal region, South Sudan.

Gabriel Bol Deng at Ariang Primary School

The Primary School in Ariang was founded by the village in 1993. The school had to be shut down regularly when the village was attacked by Morahileen militiamen. Since the beginning, the school has met under trees. No buildings. No trained teachers. No blackboards, pens, books and pencils. No clean drinking water.

There are more than a thousand students from grades 1-6. Students in grade 7 and 8 walk on foot for three hours everyday to attend school in another village.

Immediate Plans

Raise funds to cover the salaries for three teachers for grades seven to nine so that students do not have to walk on foot for three hours to attend school in another village.

Drill water wells (hand pump wells) on the plot where the school will be built.

Provide school supplies
