Focus media attention on this project.
Write a letter to the editor of your community newspapers and local cable news people. Express your concern for the crisis in Sudan and tell how you came to know about Hope for Ariang.
Write an artcile for your church newsletter or bulletin.
Are you a student? Write an article about Hope for Ariang for your school newspaper or on-line blog.
Do you have a blog? or web site? Link to our home page at http://david-morse.com/hopeforariang/. (Banners and how-to link to us page coming soon.)
Ask your friends to link to us. Link to us from your company's web site.
Educate others about the ongoing crisis and educational needs in Sudan
Letters and articles you write will help reach this goal. Do more by emailing or sending information to your friends and family. Talk about the crisis in Sudan with them and with your co-workers. Talk about Gabriel Bol Deng's belief that education is key to peace. Discussion doesn't have to sad or heavy; talk about the resilience of the "Lost Boys of Sudan" and their families, about how small gestures can fuel big dreams and ask others to donate small gifts, resources or money to help build the Ariang Primary School.
Organize an event to raise funds for the Ariang Primary School project.
Buy and wear a t-shirt and wristband to publicize HOPE for Sudan educational initiatives. (More information about this soon.)
How can you or your church or school group help?
Existing groups of people can work together very effectively to "get the word out" or to accomplish clear goals. Organize your church, social or school groups around specific projects:
- Organize a letter writing campaign with all letters going out within a certain week or month. Give one or two people the job of follow-up. Have them check to see if/when letters are printed and if there are any letters written "in response".
- Put together a fashion or antique auto show with proceeds going to the Ariang Primary School Project.
- Attend local festivals or flea markets where non-profit/churches are allowed to set up tables. Sell baked goods, bric-a-brac or raffle tickets to benefit Hope for Ariang.
- Invite Gabriel Bol Deng to speak at your church or school. Invite the public to attend.
- Do you work for a large business or university? Invite Gabriel Bol Deng to speak and request ticket-donations to benefit the Ariang Primary School Project.
- Ask co-workers to eat together in the lunchroom or meeting room, bring their lunch for a week instead or eating out and to donate their savings to the Hope for Ariang fund. Show a movie or series of favorite TV shows or play Trivial Pursuit or other group game to make it fun.
- Hold a movie & popcorn series at your church. Run a separate series for teens. Serve goodies at intermission, talk about Sudan and Hope for Ariang and urge everyone to keep spreading the word.
